Comic Book Love!

Comic book MOVIES are a big thing nowadays. But before the age of CGI and all the fancy editing tequniques, the accual comic book itself was the big thing. Don`t get me wrong, comic books are pretty big, we even have huge comic book convnetions, but they are not as popular as they used to be back in the 60`s, 70`s, or evn 80`s. I probably love comic books as much as a kid back in those days! I got into to comic books when I was 9, i think, and everything went uphill from there. The first comic books shop I ever went to was Eastside Mags (Montclair, New Jersey). I remember the moment, I was already sorta into superheroes, becuase I liked to watch the movies. My dad said we were going bto montclair for the day, and then he said wegoing to a comic book shop that he had found there. I don`t know what I felt like, I was kind of excited but also a little confused. We did all of the things like go to the record store and get lunch, but then it was time to take a visit to the comic book shop. I looked in the 1$ long boxes, I still remember the comics I got to this day: A 1990`s X-Men number 1, a mighty avengers issue, and an early 1990`s Spider-Man. I read them all that day and couldn`t stop thinking about it! Now I order comics online from searchlightcomics.com and try to visit my local comic book shop as frequently as possible!

My experiences with writing contests

Greetings, comic filmers! As you can probably see I love writing, so its just natural that I have enterted a couple of writing contests. I just got into writing in contests... like yesterday. I entered  two of the storyworks contests on the back of the magazine. "Storyworks" is a magazine with a bunch of stories and worksheets attached, but on the back og every issue there is a writing contest you can enter by simply emailing your paragraph (or essay) to whatever there gmail is. I I said earlier I have done two of them and I should one result back around late mid or late April and the other in like May or something. The prizes are very big over at storyworks ussualy just a "a random prize", a free book basede on the topic you wrote about, a shoutout in one of ther next mags, ect. No big cash prize or anything.  The contests are always about a story in the current magazine. For example, my latest one was about the  "Animal Superpowers" section in the issue. I had to write and two animal superpowers I want and why they would help me. If you like this sort of stuff you should check out Storyworks, but I`m pretty sure its just a school thing. Now about the real fat checks, writings contests were you get real MONEY if you win. I am trying to join a contest for 8-12 year olds were you get 300$ if you win. There are also 2 runner ups, who ALSO get money. Pretty good deal if you you ask me, thought there is a 15$ entry fee... Once I saw a contest that was a 0$ ebntry and the prize was... get this, 20,000$! It was crazy, probably fake thought. There you have ladies and gentlemen, my expeirences with writing contests! Comment down below and tell me whta topic you would like me to talk about next!

My Comic Books

Greetings everyone, back for another blog post reading I see? Well today I fancy to tell you about my comic books that I enjoy writing! Since the end of summer I have always wanted a comic book of my own. I have loved comic books for a while now, but I always struggle to write a comic book sand keeep going with the issues. Back in the 3rd grade I think, I wrote a comic called "The Adventures Of Captian Cosmic Boy". It only lasted one meesily issue and I still have it to this day. It`s kinda stupid thought. I always wrote on issue and then stopped, but then I started another series called "Donut Man and Munchkin Boy". It was great (or at least I think so). Currently the comic seires has 13 issues and I try and to make new ones every week or so. I think i`ve done decent job with continuity and that sort of stuff. I currently have a google site that goes by the name of "Amulet Comic Official". Amulet Comics is the name of my "company" that promulgates my comic books. I have definitely `worked with various other writers and artits to  mini series that also get published by Amulet Comics. Some inclule:Phantom The Derp, and Life of a Teen. Phantom the derp has 3 issues and Life of A teen is still a worek in progress I guess. If this sound spretty cool maybe you should try it out! Or just keep reading pre-made comics. I am working on getting my site on to the world wid web, but until next time... bye!

Blogger.com review and how I made this blog

Ever since I watched Sherlock I wanted met own blog, like John Watson. John makes his blog about his  adventures with his flat mate  Sherlock Holmes. I thought (like my podcast) that creating blog would take some time. A vlog is the same as a blog except a vlog is a video rather than text. You record a vlog and post it on the internet via YouTube channel (which I have, Owen Productions). Simple enough, usually a blog would cost money. Using sites like WordPress cost money for domains and hosting, which makes sense I guess. Until a found a collection of videos that used the site “blogger.com”. I watched the video and I was amazed, you could make your very blog on your very own website, for FREE. Of course there was a downside, your URL (wen address) must include “blogspot”. But that’s just how they cover domains and hosting, of course you can bye a domain but I didn’t have time for that. Finally, after all of that craziness,I had a full 24 hour, working website blog. The feeling is absolutely amazing! But I had forgotten about I key point. What is my blog about? I decided, I wanted my blog to be like my podcast, so I would talk about movies,  shows and comic books this time. But I also wanted stuff in personal life, like the blog post your reading right now. And the name? Well... the name just came naturally really. So now you know the story of my blog website, who knows maybe YOU will make your own blog now!

The story of my book

Disclaimer:This Book was written on Google Documents, not a legit book, enjoy!
As a younger fellow, I had many ambitions that would come and go, but there is one that stuck with me. I wanted to write a book, in my younger years I liked to write stupid little stories on google documents. One day, one the computer my dad set up a folder by the name of “Owen Docs”. He taught me how to create a new doc, so every day when I got home from school I rushed into my house and jumped right on to the family computer to start writing the next installment on my book series or whatever. As I brought up earlier, these were stupid 2 page stories with the font size set at like 21 or something. But as I eventually got older, I soon began to ditch my personal writing folder. In like 2nd grade I completely stopped using my folder thus creating a bad habit of just not writing. But the school provides laptops to all of the students, so I guess that’s cool. But later as the years went by, I decided to write an actually story. I knew I could do it but not alone. So whom gets to be my editor? A fellow peer of mine, he has been a friend for a long time, but I thought this would work out. We started in February of this year, and from there the story of “Time Messengers” kicked off. I’m almost done with Time Messengers draft, and I’m starting the revision process for the rest of March and early April, as Time Messengers will come out April 7. I hope the story just gets better and better and wish me the best for the rest of Time Messengers!

You can read Time Messengers via GMAIL April 7 by texting “Messengers” to owenproductions10@gmail.com. And don’t forget to listen to by podcast FILMCASTIFY on

“Filmcastify”My first podcast

Hello everyone, welcome back to my personal blog. Today I would like to share with you me and my friends Podcast called “Filmcastify”. Filmcastify is available on Spotify, Google Podcasts, Breaker, Radiopublic, and pocketcasts. I’ve had the idea of making a podcast stuck in my head since the beginning of the year. Ever since my brother and his friends created a podcast the idea of having my own one was so cool to me. Strangely, my friend also had that same idea in mind. Thus, creating Filmcastify, nope just kidding it wasn’t that easy. Although I created the whole thing in bed, it still took time.  My brother’s podcast wasn’t really on Apple Podcasts and or Spotify, it was kind of a live thing. Him and his friends would sit down and talk about there subjects in front of there school or something. I wasn’t really going for that approach, so I looked for weeks on YouTube trying to make a podcast. Until I found an app called “Anchor”. Anchor just let me create a podcast and would stream to pretty much every podcast service, no fees. Usually that’s not how it works, usually you have to pay money to get your podcasts on to all those apps. But not with anchor, I was genuinely surprised at this. Literally every other video explains how to do it the way it costs money. So that was the easy part, creating the podcast but what is it going to be about? From the start I wanted a podcast about reviewing movies and TV shows. Again, so did my friend, every time we record an episode, we have a plan, if you want a podcast you should too. There, that’s the story of my podcast Filmcastify.

Again Filmcastify is available onSpotify and google podcasts.

BBC’s Sherlock show. Good or Bad?

Sir Arther Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes has been portrayed by dozens upon dozens of actors. They made great movies and spectacular shows. The character of Sherlock Holmes intrigues me. I have always loved deceives and crime, that sort of stuff. I have recently got into Sherlock Holmes stuff and I haven  started my favorite of all the Sherlock Holmes shows “Sherlock”. Sherlock follows the adventures of John Watson (who had just came back from fighting in Afghanistan) and the first consulting detective. Watson moves into a flat with Sherlock Holmes, and from there they solves crimes together. I have not finished the show, I am currently on the 3rd season. I think the show is great. The crime genre that the show is going for really leaves me at the edge at my seat. The world wide internet says otherwise after season 2. The first two or three seasons were critically acclaimed by audiences around the world. After that, the show got mixed reviews. The crime genre was turning into to comedy then horror and back to crime. The reason the show did so well was because of the character Sherlock was, “a high functioning sociopath”. He dealt with problems that really could happen. The show was realistic fiction I would say.  Although no one quite like Sherlock exists, someone like him could exist. As the show progressed he faced billionaires and superpowers people. And that is were the show fell apart, it wasn’t real anymore. Sir Arther Conan Doyle’s work was different. So “Sherlock” is good show up to like season 4. If a season 5 does come, the show needs to change.
